A Pensacola couple was robbed at gunpoint in their own home Monday morning...while they were sleeping. Sheriff's investigators say the home invasion happened around 4:30am at a home on Palmdale Avenue."The suspects started yelling and screaming I want your money, I want your jewelry and ransacked the house while the homeowners were still in bed," says Glenn Austin with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office. "The three men all had guns and they took off in a black mustang."
The suspects didn't get very far. The homeowner got in his car and followed the men through the neighborhood. The chase lasted for a few minutes until the suspect's car crashed in a ditch.
"The three men ran into the woods and got away," says Austin. "But we've got some evidence on them. One of the men hit his head in the crash on the windshield and left some of his hair. The getaway car they were using is also a rental car."
Call the Escambia County Sheriff's Office if you have any information in the case.
