Most of the 55 individuals picked up on outstanding warrants by the Mobile Police Department in a pre-dawn roundup Wednesday went to jail for failure to pay fines on minor traffic infractions. But for some of those rousted out of bed on the warrant pickup, big fines awaited them. And they will have to pay those fines in full to get out of jail now.Nitonga Spencer, 33, of 1474 B. Kellogg St., accumulated six warrants for various traffic infractions. She had warrants for no driver’s license, a revoked driver’s license, a suspended driver’s license, two driver’s insurance violations and no visible tag. She will have to come up with more than $2,300 in cash to get out of jail. As of late Thursday afternoon, she remained in jail.
Arna Bowie, 22, of 1067 Preston Ave., had more than $1,539 in cash to produce before he could get out of jail on 10 outstanding warrants, six of which were for no driver’s license, one for eluding police, and two for insurance violations. He also had a new case of possession of marijuana second degree that he got after being picked up in the warrant roundup. He was still in jail late Thursday afternoon.
Charlotte Frison, 48, of 1700 Raven Dr., had more than $1,900 in cash bonds required for her release from jail. She accumulated eight warrants for traffic infractions from switched tags to insurance violations. She, too, was still in jail Thursday afternoon.
While most of the infractions were for traffic violations, there were also several warrants for furnishing alcohol to a minor and other misdemeanors, such as harassment and theft of property. There were no arrests for felony warrants.
Those who were picked up during the warrants roundup either had to pay in full the fines for their previous offenses in order to get out of jail, or they had to post a bond to appear in court at a later date, or both.
In total, those picked up Wednesday had to come up with almost $23,000 in cash to get out of jail.

The only charges i don’t approve of are the ones for not having insurance for their automobiles.One of the selling points when they were trying to pass the required insurance law was,it would make the premiums cheaper for the rest of us.It hasn’t happened and now they are going to make a big jump in premium payments by increaseing the coverage you have to have,for rest of the money they owe put them busting rocks,it will make a bigger impression on them.
