For many people August 29ti is a grim reminder of destruction and loss. But for one Pass Christian, Mississippi family today was a homecoming celebration.
The Swanier family has spent the last nine months swinging hammers, sawing wood, and putting up drywall alongside dozens of volunteers.
Today their new house is finally finished and the family of four is moving in. Lowe's donated materials for the family's new 1,172 square foot cottage designed to withstand 140 winds. The Swaniers lived in a FEMA trailer for over a year after their home was washed away by Katrina.
Cottage Living Magazine teamed up with Mercy House to complete the house. The family an their new storm-proof house will be featured in the October issue of the Cottage Living magazine.
