All it took was one shot from what some might consider a toy gun to take a young girl's life. Now, her parents are showing their support for a new bill, a bill they hope will make sure no other child loses their life to an air rifle. The day after her 14th birthday, Amber Warren, was shot in the head with a BB from an air rifle. Her parents have been pushing for legislation that would regulate air rifles in Alabama. And, they may be one step closer to making that happen. They tell News 5, a new bill has been introduced that would keep anyone under 16 from buying an air rifle. The Warrens say if there had been a law regulating air rifles before, their daughter might still be alive,"I'm not trying to be this big gun activist. I in fact own guns. I in fact have a pistol permit. But, what I'm not a favor of is kids walking down the street with these air rifles," said Amber's father, Donnie Warren. State Representative Spencer Collier introduced the air rifle bill last Thursday. The Warrens say supporting the legislation is what Amber would have wanted. We called Representative Collier about the bill, but we were unable to reach him for comment.
