But take a short drive to Chatom in Washington County and you'll find that paying for gas in Mobile, isn't bad after all.
Several stations in Chatom are selling regular gasoline between $3.95 to $4.00 a gallon.
That's about 10-to-15 cents above the state's average for gasoline.
Station owners told News Five that gasoline has always higher in Chatom because it takes more money to get fuel to the small town.
Drivers say the prices definitely change up their lifestyle.
"I live 13 miles out of Chatom, out of the city limits, so when I'm in Chatom, before I go home I make sure I take care of all of my shopping, my working, errands or whatever. You make changes to adapt to the economy. You do what you have to do," said Shanon Hebert.

Country Peddler also has a very friendly owner. I used to sit inside and talk while they were cooking a pizza for me. Good fellowship, good pizza and cheap prices, now I am getting homesick.
