Neal Howard leafs through pictures from his group's recent trip to Baton Rouge. They helped with Hurricane Gustav relief two weeks ago.“Probably somewhere in the neighborhood of a dozen to 15 trees we cut up and drug around and just got them out to the right of way where they could be taken away,” says Howard. He says they founded overflow international following Hurricane Katrina. It's affiliated with Life Church of Mobile but he says they welcome all the help they can get.
“We basically want to come in after a disaster an event anything from a house fire to a hurricane and just go in and love on the people and give them some help,” says Howard. In other disasters, overflow has brought out its large smoker to help feed hot meals to people that need them. Howard says they do clean-up, repair and help neighbors with whatever they need.
“We showed up and um weren't really sure what we were getting into but it was an incredible ministry I think to a lot of the neighborhoods we went in,” says Howard. In the next two to three weeks members of Overflow International a going to make a trip to Texas to help with hurricane relief there and they need more supplies. Howard says they're looking for non-perishable food, cleaning supplies and whatever else people can spare.
