Alabama Marine Police are investigating a boating accident at Perdido Pass. According to the Orange Beach Fire Rescue Department, a boat hit the west jetties at the Pass just before 10pm Tuesday night.

Three adults and two children were on the boat at the time of the accident. Two patients had head injuries and were flown by Lifeflight Helicopter to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola. Two others were taken by ambulance. One patient refused treatment.

Call me a crazy ole coot if you wish...but little things like life and death...especially when it comes to children.....seems to trump hurting someones feelings. I in no way intended to hurt your or anyone elses feelings...Frankly, I dont see how I did....If people were a little more concerned about responsibility,CLAIMING RESPONSIBILITY, and placing blame where it should be placed ...instead of feelings...it may be a little safer out there. That cold beer sure caused some good FEELINGS im sure.

you’ve made it more than obvious that you don’t care about my feelings or anyone else’s involved.  this is not and never was a debate over your intelligence or lack thereof.  it’s about being senstive to the feelings of others and putting yourself in their shoes.
and, it’s not religion that causes suffering in the world.  it’s the lack of it.  and, for you to say what God should have and shouldn’t have controlled is truly scary.

cdunn.....My lack if intelligence huh...lol Im not going to debate religion at all.... Religion causes too much suffering in the world already. Believe what you want...I dont care one way or another...If god is in control of every situation as you said...I suppose he drove the boat into the rocks too. What he should have controlled was the cold beer being consumed by the driver. But all that being said...It is great that everyone is OK and maybe...just maybe....a lesson was learned. Im kind-of old-fashioned...I think that in the majority of times...WE create the conditions that bring about our own demise.

cdunn I am glad your family is doing alright and I hope that they have a speedy recovery from any injuries that they might have.  I am also glad to hear Mr. Odom is taking responsiblity for his actions and trying to do the right thing.

i agree if someone were to blame it is Mr. Odom. it doesn’t offend me in the least that you blame him.  what offends me is people that are so insensitive to other’s feelings when it is really none of their business at all.  everyone has their own opinions and I can respect whatever they may be, even if I don’t agree with them.  but, when their opinions can hurt innocent people and their families, their opinions should be kept to themselves.
as far as talking to Mr. Odom, I have done just that.  he has been very upset and concerned, and has called to check on them on several occasions.

i am not trying to put the blame on anyone. i am simply trying to look at the positive side and the real issue and that is that everyone is okay. This accident may not have happened had the driver not been drinking.  i don’t know that and neither do you.  all i’m saying is you need to be a little more compassionate and not quite as harsh unless, of course, you were somehow directly involved and i don’t know it.
and, as far as being angry at someone, i don’t see where that would benefit anyone at this point.  all I can feel right now is relief that I still have my husband and child and the other people are well.

A boating accident Tuesday night in the waters of Perdido Pass. A Chatom man has been arrested.
Police tell News 5 that Edmund Odom was boating under the influence when he ran into the jetties.

Maybe you should have a talk with Mr. Odom about harming your child and husband.  It is his fault and no one elses.  I work in the offshore industry and if you are the captin of the boat you are responsible for the safety of all people onboard.  If someone offends you I am sorry but Odom is to blame 100%.

Cdunn seems to me you are trying to pass blame.  What I know is that the operator of the vessel was arrested and charged with Boat Under the Influence.  So if you want to be angry at someone maybe that should be the person who caused your loved ones to be hurt.  If he would have not been drinking then this probally would not have happened.

this is in response to tide fan’s derrogatory and completely ignorant remarks.  i am the wife of the passenger on the boat and mother of one of the children.  this experience has been tragic enough without someone such as yourself putting talking all this garbage, especially when you have no first hand knowledge of what happened.
you really showed your lack of intelligence talking about god.  god is in control of every situation and, as a matter of fact, it is by his grace that these people are alive.  so, before you hurt innocent people and their families, shut your mouth and mind your own business.
