JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Authorities are on a search for a manwho took off with a $24,000 diamond ring from a jewelry store in a
Jacksonville mall.
Police say the man asked to see the ring and told the employee
it was a Valentine's Day gift for someone.
But when the expensive ring was removed from behind the glass
case, that's when then man snatched the ring from the store
employee and ran out of the mall.
Witnesses say they saw the thief get into the passenger side of
a black Chrysler 300 and sped off.
The ring was 14-karat gold with a round brilliant-cut,
2.10-karat diamond.
Police say the thief is a 6-foot-3-inch, 190-pound black male
who looked about 20 years old. He had a surgical scar on his left
forearm and a long nail on his left pinky finger.
Police are working with the store's corporate office to get
security video of the man.
