It’s been three years since Baldwin County teenager Scottie Weaver was murdered. One of the reasons for the murder according to prosecutors, Weaver was gay.
Wednesday, the third and final defendant, Nicole Kelsay pleaded guilty to her part in the killing. And for the first time Weavers’ mother addressed the court.
"A nightmare," that’s how Martha Weaver describes the last three years, "I can't wake up from it, I won't never wake up from it."
It was Summer, 2004, Scottie Weaver’s body was discovered in a remote area of Baldwin County, beaten, stabbed numerous times and burned beyond recognition. Days later, three friends would be arrested and charged with capital murder and robbery.
Chris Gaines pleaded guilty in May and was sentenced to life in prison. Robert Porter who plead guilty to murder last week and was sentenced to life and now Nicole Kelsay, guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and sentenced to 20 years.
"She did not physically participate in the murder and when she agreed to a lengthy jail sentence we thought that was the best decision," says Baldwin County District Attorney Judy Newcomb.
For the first time since the ordeal began Martha Weaver addressed the court and specifically Kelsay. Afterwards her questions were still unanswered. "Why did she do it? Why did she plot to hurt him like that? Because he done nothing to her. He always tried to help her. He loved her more than anything."
The three people responsible for Scottie Weaver's murder have now all pleaded guilty. The legal case is over. But it will never be over for Martha Weaver. "It won't never go away cause I don't have my baby no more. Cause of them, they took him away from me."
In court, Weaver told Kelsay she hoped she would never rest for what she did to Scottie. Kelsay made no statement and left the courtroom in shackles and handcuffs.

Why can these illiterate people speak correct English.  Stupid is as stupid does.  Educate these people and maybe your crime will reduce just a bit.  Ignorant!!!!  Even the reporter, who could not have used official quotes could have corrected the English.

Terrible ordeal and this family will NEVER FORGET. I don’t think that life in prison or 20 years is justice for what they did to that young man. I think they should endure the electric chair. They have the rest of their lives to think about what they did but is that enough? I really don’t want to spend my tax money to feed them and house them in prison. Let them go out…in the chair!!! I hope that this family will someday be able to go on with their lives but, I doubt it.
