In a unanimous vote, the Mobile County School Board has approved a 3 and a half year contract for new superintendent Roy Nichols. The move came this morning during a school board meeting. Yesterday, the School Board released the details of the contract. Nichols will be paid $210,000 per year. For tax reasons, $15,000 will be deferred. He will also get $1,000 per month for travel expenses. Also included in the contact, Nichols will get a 5% bonus if he reaches annual goals for the school system. The possible bonus could translate into another $10,500 per year. Nichols will be paid at least $50,000 more per year than outgoing superintendent, Dr. Harold Dodge. We will have more on this story later today on News 5 & WKRG.com

Well then if you want your children to have the best education and you think that can be attained in a public school you are far more liberal than I anticipated any 1 person could be. SAD!!

The school is not responsible for teaching my children morals I the parent is responsible.  But it is important that my children are given the best education possible and if that means using a lottery then I have no problem with that.  So obviously you leave it up to the school system to raise your children by instilling them with morals and values and not what you do in your household.
By the way again Gambling in not in the school system the money from it is put back into the school system, obviously you have a different interpretation of what is said on this CHEESY forum.  So maybe your opinion is to superior to be posted.

So, who’s gonna teach your 5 kids when the teachers strike for their entitlements?  Could impose gambling in the schools. A new program ___________ Gambling For Grades______________! Let’s take the rest of the morals outta the schools.

Don’t you people even care about your children. Sounds like some parents have been indoctrinated into the liberal points of view. Especially those who have to brag about there job and income on a cheesy forum. Ya’ll ain’t gotta be so angry!!

Assumptions, Assumptions you know what assuming makes you.  You assume I’m a school teacher, False; I am an involved father of 5 kids who are in the Mobile County School System.  My last post was a continuation of my first post (If you bother to read a little more you would see that).  Read my first post beginning with THIS IS OUTRAGIOUS and then comment.  Then you will not appear to be the ass you strive to be.  And as far as gambling goes MeAmerican get with the program Mississippi and Florida see a lot of Alabama money in their lotteries and casinos all I’m saying is let keep those dead presidents in our state and used the funds to better our schools and lower the sales tax.  By the I have a BS in Electrical Engineering my income is GREAT!!!

Signed,

Still Op2mstik1

So your Op2mstik that the further stripping of morals from our society is the answer to the school problems? Oh good grief, your list starts with “2” which is a demand for more money. What was #1? A demand for more money? If your not happy with your work enviroment you have an option, move along and put yourself in a position to earn what you feel you’re entitled to. Who forced you into your career? No one! So why should gambling be forced on the community?

Here is the rest of my cure to the above made about replacing board members.

2.  Increase Teachers pay and give bonuses.

3.  Limit the number of students to teachers 18 tops.

4.  Limit the number of inclusion student to classes.  If the number is greater than 2 then a teachers’ aid will be needed.

5.  This one is for Mr. Riley.  Here’s my 50, 10, 40 plan.

A) Alabama State Lottery.  More money goes to mississippi and Florida from Alabama than we could ever dream of. Let keep it home.

B) 50% of the money taken in from lotto sales goes to Alabama Public Schools, 10% for Administration cost and 40% to pay winners.

Easy isn’t it.

If the Teachers and Parents STOOD-UP and said this is enough and got together and took back OUR school system someone Might listen but if your not going to do nothing but WHINE about it then your going to have to live with it. Parents and Teachers and the tax paying public its Time to take a STAND

Teachers will complain so much that he’ll get his walking papers in a little while and still draw that salary till the end of his cotract. Pretty sweet deal for him. Not at all sure it’s worth the grief, but at least he won’t have to deal with dave thomas!!
