the federal prison at Oakdale after being released on appeal bond.
He says he remains upbeat despite being incarcerated for nine
months on his conviction in a corruption case.
Siegelman said he lost his freedom, -quote- "I never lost
faith."
The former governor left the prison in a black sport utility
vehicle and stopped on the road outside the lockup to speak briefly
to reporters. He wore a ragged shirt that appeared to be prison
clothing.
He declined further comment. He said he would make a statement
when he reaches his home in Birmingham.
He was placed in federal custody after being sentenced last June
to more than seven years in prison on six bribery-related counts
and one obstruction of justice count.
