AL GOP Senator Sessions Starts with Significant Advantage Over Democratic Challenger Figures: State Senator Vivian Davis Figures is the first Democrat to announce that she will challenge Republican incumbent U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions in Sessions' 2008 bid for a 3rd term. In a head-to-head matchup today, Sessions defeats Figures 59% to 37%. 30% of Alabama Democrats cross-over and vote for Republican Sessions. 7 of 10 whites vote for Sessions. 7 of 10 blacks vote for Figures. Sessions leads by 38 points among men, but Figures trails by only 8 among women -- a 30-point Gender Gap. Sessions leads 8:1 among Conservatives, but Figures is up among Alabama Moderates and Liberals. |
