He earned millions in the NBA and won two world championship rings, but an Atlanta attorney says former Chicago Bulls player Jason Caffey isn't supporting multiple children in several states. . Caffey, who also played for the University of Alabama, was arrested and booked into Mobile's metro jail Tuesday for not paying child support for his 13 year old son in Tuscaloosa.
Now an attorney in Georgia says Caffey owes about $100,000 in back child support for his five year old child.
Randy Kessler says trying to collect money from Caffey is like pulling teeth but says his client will get the money one way or another.
"Sooner or later, we're going to get the money for her and we're going to get from his pension or some asset he has. The only real question we have for Caffey is: Is he going to let us earn a lot of attorney fees and build up a lot of interest before he pays or is he just going to find a way to resolve it now?" said Lorunda Brown's attorney Randy Kessler of Fulton County, Georgia.
Caffey told News Five the amount of his child support payments are based on the $5 million dollar salary he made while playing in the NBA.
He retired five years ago and says he doesn't make the money he once did. Kessler says Caffey owns six cars, including a $350,000 Bentley Azure.
