Dorothea Read will be missed by her family.
"I'd like to die myself," says John Read, Dorothea's son. "She was a great person, she'd sacrifice anything for her kids or grand-kids."
Read and her three dogs died in a house fire on Ridgewood Lane early Tuesday morning. Neighbors called 911 and tried to save her, but the toxic
smoke made a rescue impossible.
"I wish there was something I could have done when we first saw the smoke," says neighbor Mike Walker. "The smoke was way too bad for us to gain entry inside the house."
"We loved her dearly," says Read. "We're going to miss her, I'm going to miss going over to her house and talking with her in the mornings. That's what I'll miss the most."
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Read's family believes the blaze could have started in the kitchen.
