PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) - The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of
Staff will speak Saturday in Pascagoula, Mississippi, at the
christening of the Dewey, a guided missile destroyer.
The Dewey honors Admiral George Dewey, best known for his
victory at the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish-American
War.
Admiral Michael Mullen will speak and his wife Deborah Mullen,
the ship's sponsor, will break a bottle of champagne across the
ship's bow.
The event is scheduled at the Northrop Grumman shipyard.
U.S. Congressman Gene Taylor, Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon
England, and Northrop Grumman's chairman and CEO, Ronald Sugar, are
also scheduled to attend.
