The Mobile County chapter of the NAACP says it fully supports embattled Circuit Court Judge Herman Thomas. According to published reports, Thomas is being investigated for allegedly paddling some Metro Jail inmates in his courthouse office. In a Wednesday news conference, NAACP President Jimmie Gardner accused Mobile County District Attorney John Tyson of coercing inmates to accuse the judge in exchange for promises of a lighter sentence. Tyson is on the West Coast and unavailable for comment. The D.A.'s office won't specifically comment on the paddling allegations.

Hey del, I’m proud of the Education I received from the University of South Alabama and I have the finances to prove it and that’s just for my bachelors degree.  We can discuss my Master’s education when the fries are done at your job. This is about Judge Thomas not David - if he did something wrong I don’t support that, but we are so quick to judge without knowing the facts.  Granpa - your wisdom is evident, let us wait and see if the charges are true.  I do agree with the mismanagement at Bishop, I was in support of Dr. Kennedy initially but as the facts started to roll in, my position was, it’s time for her to retire.  I agree, I’m just of the opinion that we are so quick to judge.  Race is not an issue for me, judge on the merits.

Hey finance01—don’t put too much credit to your education, Alabama is in the bottom three for education.  I wouldn’t brag on that fact if I were you.  And I know that Judge Thomas and Dave Thomas are guity as charged.  These are very coniving individuals and belong locked up.  They play the race card only when the going gets tough and they have been caught at something otherwise.

not only are the naacp try to play the race card on judge Thomas, but also on the bishop state issue if it had been anyone else in charge of bishop state they would have been threw in jail for all he mismangement that happen there. I believe we should wait and see if the charges our true and if not we owe him a apology but if they are true let him pay the fiddler

I find it hard to believe that Judge Thomas would do something like that.  It is strange that all the good he has done in the community is being overshadowed by this.  To grandpa above, as a 30 yo male I give Deference to you.  But could it be that the NAACP is coming to the aid of one of it’s members.  This is not an issue of race it’s an issue of integrity.  No one else is standing up the back Judge Thomas so why not the NAACP.  Where are all the poeple that have called him at 3 and 4 am to help them find their children that have run away.  I’ve remained silent on this issue because I feel that he will be ok, but let’s not be so quick to judge his actions and also be so quick to forget the accomplishments of this man that has risen through the ranks of the Judicial system.  Where are all the people and civic groups that he has come out to speak to their young people or the numerous boards that he is affliated with.  It’s disheartening to see that someone has given there life to a community and that community is not ready and willing to give back.  As a Graduate of USA I applaud the efforts of Judge Thomas, to give young men and women black or white a chance.

Jimmie Gardner is stirring the pot just like Jessie Jackson does about all this racial crap he just needs to grow up and stop acting like he is the victim here.  John Tyson is not that dumb unlike Jimmie who tape records coworkers in a attempt to set them up for the kill thats both low and inmature. Grow up little Jimmie

why is it that ever time someone of color gets into trouble we always want to play the race card I thought we all were suppose to be treated equal if so we should stop. Know matter what race we are we should follow the law because as long as we always want to play the race card we will never will be equal there have been judges&sport;figures of all colors been charge with crimes lets please quit playing the race card and al try to get along that is the God meant it to be
