“It becomes obvious that about 10 of the actors have reasons for killing Mr. Mortal the owner of the troupe,” says Kearn. It's the first time any of them have tried coupling mayhem with a musical.
“It's different from what we were doing with having a lot of interaction with the characters and the guests,” says veteran actress Katharine Levigne. She plays Countess Ivanna Takeitoff. Most of the actors have been in previous murder mystery productions, except John Richards. This is his first mystery. Speaking in character, he plays the aloof, shy stage-hand Prop Fetcher.
“He does have a big crush on the leading lady over there she's so wonderful,” says Richards/Fetcher. “I and keep everything running smooth for the show,” he says sheepishly.
At the end of the show they hand out ballots and let you pick you think did it. You don't have lines, you're not part of the show, you're enjoying the show.
“When people come, they just come and they're entertained they don't have to come and think that they're going to take part in the play and have lines and things like that,” says organizer Virginia McKean. The next performances are Saturday the 16th and 23rd. They don’t accept walk-ins so reservations are a must. Call Virginia McKean at 479-3212. Tickets are $55 per person and include dinner and a museum tour.
