issuing more alligator hunting permits after a programming glitch
caused problems with this year's application process.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission began
selling about 4,800 hunting permits on a first come, first served
basis Tuesday morning.
But the state says the vendor responsible for the licensing
process ran into problems handling the high volume of applications.
The system failed to provide people with confirmation that their
application had been accepted.
The glitch caused confusion and frustration. Some people weren't
able to buy a license because of the problem.
The agency plans to make another 500 permits available later
this month for those who weren't able to get a license because of
the technical problems.
