News 5 was the only TV station in court this morning for Leavitt's bond hearing. We'll have that exclusive video later today on News 5 at 5:00 and 6:00.
The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office says a Crime Stoppers tip lead deputies to the airport on Tuesday. She was supposed to be arriving in Pensacola on a connecting flight from Atlanta. Just before 1:00 p.m., airport police found Leavitt and her two kids, 8-year-old Haley and 9-year-old Damien, in the baggage claim area. They were with Leavitt's attorney who met them at the airport.
Leavitt said she was on her way to the Santa Rosa County Jail to turn herself in on child sex charges. Deputies believe Leavitt had sex at least three times with her 16-year-old boyfriend. According to text messages, she wanted to have his baby.
Leavitt was arrested by airport police and transported to the Escambia County Jail. She was later transferred to the Santa Rosa County Jail. Leavitt's two children were released to the custody of their father, Greg Leavitt, per a court order.
After today's bond hearing, Greg Leavitt released this statement. "I am extremely happy and overwhelmed that my children have been returned to me safely. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office, the media, and the public for all of their help in assuring the safe return of my children."
Greg Leavitt, who spoke publically for the first time Friday, has denied any media requests for a second interview.
Angela Levitt's 16-year-old boyfriend was found Monday in Pensacola. He called police after arriving on a Greyhound bus from Texas. He was later reunited with his parents.
Leavitt and the 16-year-old has been missing since June 3rd. Deputies say the two quit their jobs the same day and then ran away together.
