The Department of Child and Family Services has taken custody of two toddlers that police say have not eaten since Monday.
Child and Family Services received an anonymous tip that a woman living at the Palm Court Inn on Pensacola Boulevard had not been feeding her kids. When they got to the hotel, they found Lakeissha Leggs and her two children, ages 2 and 3.
Investigators say the 2 year old boy had scars on his back, chest and legs. They believe he was beaten with a belt or switch. Leggs, who recently served jail time, said the children had been living with their aunt while she was behind bars. She claims the aunt beat her little boy. Leggs also said she had not taken them to the hospital because she was afraid Child Protective Services would take them away.
According to investigators, Leggs also admitted her children have not had anything to eat for four days.
The Escambia County Sherrif's Office arrested Leggs for child abuse and child neglect. She is schedule to be in court November 1.

I have 4 children and i would do without before I would watch them do without. I don’t understand how a mother can sit there knowing her baby is hungry and not find a way to feed it.

Her puniushment should death by starvation! Anyone who hurts children doesn’t deserve to live!!!

The law needs to send a very strong message to this woman and to others like her who neglect helpless children! She needs to spend time in prison. Her family and friends should be ashamed of her.

why have kids if you dont take care of them??? I want another child, but I can’t. Stuff like this grosses me out.....

You know, this makes me so mad. There are plenty of sources for food, including WIC and local churches. If people can’t take care of their kids, they don’t need to have them in the first place. Maybe mandatory sterilization should be an option.

This is just ridiculous, there are many resources available for free food, if she was out of food for the children. 2 and 3 year olds are not hard to cook for. No child should be treated this way. Really, really sad.
