There’s more to see and do this New Year’s Eve in downtown Mobile. The festivities begin with a block party in the Fort Conde area, on Royal Street between Church and Monroe Streets. The block party beginning at 9:00pm will feature a Kwanzaa celebration filled with music and dance, followed by the band Emerge at 10:00pm. As usual the City’s New Years celebration will be highlighted by a fireworks show. And reminiscent of it’s opening back in May, the RSA tower will help the city ring in the new year with a light show of it’s own. Cooper Riverside Park used by many in the past to view the fireworks is closed due to construction. But the City of Mobile says the block party location provides an obstruction free viewing area for the fireworks display.
