A man suspected of robbing a Mobile bank at gunpoint is captured 1,800 miles away in a Las Vegas casino.Mobile police say Ward Robert Lynde, 45, held up the Bay Bank on Highway 90, near the Tillman's Corner sheriff's department substation.
Mobile police, US Marshalls and the FBI teamed up to track Lynde down at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino.
"I would just say he made a series of bad bets, and his trip ended abruptly," said Nancy Johnson, Mobile police spokeswoman. "He was going to the casinos, and that's where we found him in one of the hotels," said Johnson.
Johnson says surveillance pictures aired on News Five helped lead investigators to the suspect.
Lynde has a long criminal history including robbery, assault and narcotics convictions. He is expected to be extradited to Mobile sometime next week.
