Mississippi Coast Not Taking Chances

a state emergency in advance of Gustav. It's a tropical storm now,
but could crash ashore on the Gulf Coast sometime over the Labor
Day weekend as a category three hurricane. It has already killed at
least 22 people in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) - Gustav has already killed 23 people
in Haiti and the Dominican Republic and now there's concern it
could gain strength again and hit the U.S. Gulf coast as a Category
3 hurricane by Labor Day.
Oil workers have started leaving their rigs in the Gulf of
Mexico, and New Orleans has drawn up evacuation plans.
By Wednesday evening, a slightly weakened Gustav had top winds
of 45 miles per hour. It was centered some 100 miles south of
Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and was traveling west-northwest at eight
miles per hour.
A hurricane warning was in effect for parts of Cuba, including
the U.S. military base at Guantanamo.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Companies are preparing to shut off
their pipelines on the ocean floor and possibly evacuate thousands
of offshore workers as Tropical Storm Gustav takes aim at the Gulf
of Mexico.
Gas prices fell again Tuesday, but the threat from Gustav raised
the possibility that gas could soon head upward.
Oil prices climbed for a third day as Tropical Storm Gustav spun
toward the Gulf on a possible collision course with offshore oil
and gas platforms.
It's still too soon to know where Gustav is headed. Some models
show it taking a path toward Louisiana and other Gulf states that
were hit by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita three years ago. Those two
storms sent fuel prices soaring.
There are more than 4,000 oil and gas installations in the Gulf.
In 2005, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita destroyed 109 oil platforms
and five drilling rigs.

I have found too that several gas stations are out of gas. If you need gas do so as soon as possible because they are saying it will be next week before they get anymore in!
