While many parts of the country are dealing with back-sliding economies and sluggish housing markets, that's not the case here in Mobile.
A new survey of America's fastest growing metro areas shows Mobile is a front-runner in the United States. According to research forecasts
from Moody's Economy.com, the Port City is projected to have the nation's greatest change in "gross metropolitan product" (GMP). Numbers
show we could see a 34% increase from 2007-2012. Other Alabama cities like Huntsville and Montgomery are not far behind either. In our area the announcement of a 3.7 billion dollar steel plant built by ThyssenKrupp paces economic development. Statewide, automotive manufacturing operations have located to the state, including DaimlerChrysler, Honda, Toyota, and Hyundai. The study looked at 363 cities in the country with an "urban core" of at least 50,000. Other metro areas that made the list include Port St. Lucie, Florida and Texarkana, Arkansas, and St. George, Utah. the study also looked at the nation's 100 largest metropolitan areas. Austin, Texas came in at number one. Atlanta, Seattle, and Orlando aren't far behind.
Besides GMP, the study also looked at population growth, job growth, housing starts, and personal income growth. Mobile ranked among the top in those statistics as well. Take a look at the full story by Forbes Magazine just click on the related link right side of this page

I graduated from Brookleys’ Aviation school and AIDT, I highly recommend this Maintenance school and instructors of EOCC Mobile.
There were no race problems at all with a 50/50 mix of students.

Let’s hope we can have respectable colleges to educate the people required for the new jobs. Look somewhere besides BSCC, it getting worse instead of better. It’s bad when the teachers put down the school in front of the students. They have a bad reputation, teachers that lack skills, and lots of racism in the school. The blacks have attitudes toward whites attending the school.

its great to see mobile doing so well economically. i’ll be finished with college in a year and hopefully I can find a well paying job in mobile in the IT and technology field.
