COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Hundreds of University of South Carolinastudents have paid tribute to six classmates who were killed in a
beach house fire in North Carolina.
The university theater's main stage was adorned with six
wreaths, each bearing a single red flower. A seventh wreath was
decorated in purple and orange, a tribute to the Clemson University
student who also was killed in the October 28th blaze.
Six students survived the fire that authorities say was
accidental and likely started by a discarded cigarette or other
smoking material.
USC President Andrew Sorenson said, "We give thanks for the
time they spent among us, and we pray for the perseverance and
courage to build on the hopes they left for us."
