Mobile Area Water and Sewer System is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest of the vandals responsible for causing a 4 million gallon waste material overflow in the Rattlesnake Bayou area of Theodore. MAWSS determined that the back-up was caused at a manhole near the Mobile South Business Park south of Interstate 10. They found the manhole was stuffed full of logs, twigs, and other campfire debris. The manhole cover was also damaged by gunshots. MAWSS crews were called out to the area and had to removed the debris to prevent further overflow. Clean up continued at the site today. The manhole provides access to a 24-inch sanitary sewer line that services the Theodore area. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Mobile County Sheriff’s Department.
