A woman wanted for assault in connection with a head on crash in Gulf Shores has turned herself into authorities.
A warrant was issued for Summar Marousky’s arrest earlier this week. According to investigators she was driving the wrong way on Highway 59 near Gulf Shores when she crashed nearly head on into Baldwin County Deputy Andy Ashton. He remains hospitalized in serious condition but is showing signs of improvement.
District Attorney Judy Newcomb said her office was in negotiations to have Marousky turn herself in when she unexpectedly left a Florida hospital early Thursday morning.
Marousky reported to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s office around 8:30 this morning. A bond hearing could be held as early as this afternoon.

Since bars can be held responsible if someone leaves their establishment drunk, drives and has an accident; why not administer a breath test at the bar when someone is leaving?  They could call the authorities if the person would not accept a ride home or if they insisted upon driving themselves.

“no bail please, she’ll run”??
please. don’t be a drama queen.
i’ve known summar for a while, and tho i am NOT condoning drinking and driving in ANY way, shape or form, it never fails to amaze me how many of my fellow americans are eager to try, convict and sentence someone based solely on what pap they suck up from the media--a profession i am increasingly ashamed to belong to.
you won’t find many twentysomething mothers with 2 kids high-tailing it to mexico, either. i think some of the things summar did were very wrong (IF the drinking thing holds up to scrutiny), but i’ll not be the first to cast stones.
if any john or jane q. citizen hit a cop (even stone cold sober), you might fear for your safety and your future, too. do us all a favor, you monday morning jurists out there: go watch court TV or rush limbaugh and leave the law to the lawyers.

you are right about it being an accident........it was an accident.....involving 2 vehicles.
Yeah...going the wrong way on the road tells me that she must have been drinking alot. I totally agree with you on the fact that she needs a reality check.
What if she hadn’t been drinking, she was driving on a road she wasn’t familiar with, and this happened.....would everyone still feel the same way they feel now. i had said that she does need toserve time.

What is gonna happened to her now...she is being released.....she better get the GOOD BOOK down, dust it off and start praying that the officer makes a FULL recovery.

I dont agree with people drinking and driving, my best friend was killed that way. So many innocent people lose their life that way.

TOO MANY WRONG DECISIONS!!!!!!

I’m sorry I have to disagree with the comment that “it was an accident”. Getting behind the wheel after drinking is no accident. Yes she mad a bad choice to get into the driver’s seat after drinking ...and apparently drinking a LOT since she was going the wrong way on a major highway. She’s scared I’m sure but she needs a reality check so this does not happen ever again.

It is 3:24 and her parents are at the jail now getting her out!!! Her sister who looks just like her pulled the vehicle inside the fenced in area so that no one could see her when she got in the vehicle.  Her dad just pulled the walker out of the vehicle, and it should be just a few minutes, I think they need to leave her in there for a little bit longer myself!!!

Currently there is a push to make passive in-car breathalyzers standard on all cars much like air bags and seat belts.  Do you think the general public would support such a thing?

The age old problem with drunk driving continues, because when people are plastered they do not have the good sense not to drive.  They seem to lose their ability to reason and make the right choice.  If technology would inhibit such behavior, wouldn’t that be the way to go?

I am sure that this lady is going through alot right now. Yes,I agree drinking and driving do not mix, but it was an accident. I totally feel for the family of the officer, may he speed up in recovery. Yes Ms. Marousky needs to serve time for what she did, but she was probably scared and that is why she left the hospital.
I hope all goes great for the both of them, her and the police officer
