A woman wanted for assault in connection with a head on crash in Gulf Shores has turned herself into authorities.
A warrant was issued for Summar Marousky’s arrest earlier this week. According to investigators she was driving the wrong way on Highway 59 near Gulf Shores when she crashed nearly head on into Baldwin County Deputy Andy Ashton. He remains hospitalized in serious condition but is showing signs of improvement.
District Attorney Judy Newcomb said her office was in negotiations to have Marousky turn herself in when she unexpectedly left a Florida hospital early Thursday morning.
Marousky reported to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s office around 8:30 this morning. A bond hearing could be held as early as this afternoon.

oh but i did mention the getleman...i said we need to pray for him and stop pointing fingers.
i am not stupid, i know that summar is going to have to pay for what she did, that is called justice, my problem is everyone sitting back a crusifying her when you don’t have the right, let the judge and jury handle that. All I was trying to do is stop the venom of some of you ppl, but then again who am i trying to fool....we as ppl have lost our compassion. and that is not judging any of you because i am guilty as well in other situations, but as i said in my last post, we need to pray for BOTH of them the deputy andy and summar.
all things happen for a reason, it will be their job to figure out what God has waiting for them, and i pray that God does wrap his arms around andy while he is trying to get his self back to where normal will be…

Oh yes...poor, poor innocent Summer.  What a joke.  Not only did she slam into this officer, who was out doing his job, while driving on the wrong side of the road....she seemed to have the forethought to just up and leave a hospital knowing she was up **** creek without a boat!
Take her license, then toss her in jail.  Heck, I’d even ask her “friend” that posted on here, since she’s known her for 12 years, why she didn’t know where she’s been for the past 2 weeks?  Hmmmmm.

I have zero sympathy for drunk drivers.  I could care less how wonderfull you think that person is.  She deserves everything she gets from this!

angelia hearon I noticed in your post you did not once mention the Officer that is injuried because of her actions.  Should he not get justice for being hurt and the pain that he is going though along with his family.  Put yourself in their situation - just think your dad goes to work one day and does not come home.  I am not a judge - just someone that thinks it is wrong for you to come on here and talk about poor summer poor summer she will never be the same.  And the real victim is still in the hospital suffering.

That is a sweet thought, but a judge will soon judge her and I hope she has a good lawyer.

I have known Summar for over 12 years, and first I will add that this is out of her character...Summar has a very sweet spirit about her, and she would never, never intentionally want to hurt someone. I have only waisted my time and read some of the statements that have been said, and the only thing that i have seen that bares repeating is that the prison she will make for herself is far more than what the law can give.....i see some of ya’ll sit there and answer all high and mighty, but the fact is you can condem her all you want...but just know that who are any of ya’ll to judge her, only God has the right to judge her...i am sure that none of ya’ll have anything in your closet to be ashamed of, what we all should do is stop trying to place the blame and judgement and pray for these 2 ppl, that is what they both need, prayer not condemnation....I ask that God would give each of you and a heart of decernment....God Bless....Summar we love you and we will never stop.....we r here 4 u!

Contrary to what you may think, I’m not a bad person. I offer no excuse for her actions. I pray the officer regains every bit of function and that, in a very short time, he shows no sign of injury. It just proves, I guess, that one split second mistake can ruin the rest of your life. And if I could take it back for her, and for him, I would. But I think we can all agree--everything happens for a reason. And maybe the reason is to teach her a lesson about the value of life (including her own). Perhaps it’s to teach teenagers about taking responsibility even when it’s hard. Maybe it’s to teach me that I shouldn’t go online & throw around my opinion. If I’ve upset anyone, I’m sorry. I never intended to do any harm. She messed up. And there is no jail time, punishment, or monetary penalty that will hurt her any more than she’s already hurt herself over it. If she serves time, she’ll serve in a sentence in jail...and in the prison of her own guilt. And sometimes that inner prison is worse.

It would depend upon the Alabama state laws, which define criminal traffic violations versus a civil traffic violation.  Every state recognizes DUI/DWI as a criminal offense and any accident caused while committing that criminal act would also be deemed criminal.  Not sure if simply driving on the wrong side of the road would automatically be considered criminally reckless.  Could there be extenuating circumstances, i.e. poor signage, obscured visibility?

What are the details of this accident?

Since driving on the wrong side of the road is illegal to begin with, and someone was injured in and of that act, does that not make it “criminal?” If I were to run a stop light and take out a family of innocent people, would I not be charged with vehicular manslaughter?

By the way, how long does it take to realize you are on the wrong side of the road? I don’t know all the facts of this case, but it would seem that the officers car was hit at a pretty good rate of speed, and if I am not mistaken, Hwy 59 is 4 or 5 lanes and heavy traffic. So that being said, if you suddenly went down the wrong side, wouldn’t you immediately get in the breakdown lane or median to get turned around? Not drive far enough at a higher rate of speed for awhile? I may be totally wrong on that, but just speculation.

This sounds pretty clear cut due to the given circumstances.  If she was driving on the wrong side of the road, it would appear that she was definitely at fault.  However, if there was no alcohol or drugs involved, then I can’t see how the accident can be elevated to a criminal charge.

As a point of reference for future discussions, Alabama is a “contributory negligence” state as opposed to “comparative negligence.” If it can be proven that a person that was rear ended in an accident contributed to the accident by failing to have proper brake lights, etc., then those facts could definitely change the outcome of possible litigation.

The only possible scenario that enters my mind in an accident like the one described that might be mitigating, would be if the woman was trying to pass a vehicle in an approved area and met an oncoming vehicle that was exceeding the speed limit and or, failed to have proper lighting.

Just tossing out some ideas for discussion.
