MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - This year's Navy Mardi Gras ship is
scheduled to arrive in Mobile on February 1st. Organizers said the
U-S-S Gettysburg is a 567-foot long guided missile cruiser with a
350 member crew. The vessel is based in Mayport, Florida.
Officials say no public tours will be allowed.
Naval vessels have been participating in Mobile's Mardi Gras for
almost 100 years.
Alabama's Port City has the nation's oldest Mardi Gras tradition
dating back to 1700.
