And even though it's just a few weeks after Christmas, people were ready to get more gifts, in the form of beads and moonpies.
When asked what he thought of the early Mardi Gras season this year, Clarence Montgomery of Mobile said, "Oh, well, I love Mardi Gras any time: early, late doesn't matter."
Joe Dingler of Mobile brought an unusual looking piece of equipment to the parade.
He says, "They're used to get the beads out of the trees, the strays."
Jenette Whistnant says she's glad to be able to come to the parades as an adult,
She says, "Daddy wouldn't let us come when we were little, we had to wait till we got old."
And this Mardi Gras season is still very young.
