Minutes later, the same deputy was dispatched to a 911 hang-up call from a woman who said her son had been beaten by his roommate.
Investigators found David Ferguson badly beaten and lying in a creek near Tanner Williams Road. They believe Randall Smith beat Ferguson with a MagLight flashlight, then put Ferguson in his car, drove to the creek and dumped the body.
Ferguson is listed in critical condition at USA Medical Center. Smith was arrested and charged with attempted murder and public intoxication.
