The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office says they have brought down a major dog fighting ring. Raymond Teamer was arrested Monday after a 7 month investigation. Deputies say they found more than 30 pit bulls on his property, most they say had injuries consistent with dog fighting. Tuesday, investigators made another gruesome discovery, a dog grave and carcass. As for what will happen to the dogs that were found alive, we're told, whether or not they will be put down will be decided on a dog by dog basis, "unfortunately in some of these situations, some of these dogs will be euthanized, and although it's hard to say, it's better for that to happen then these dogs have to fight to the death," said Sgt. Scott Haines, with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office. The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office says Teamer was breeding "high dollar pit bulls" just for fighting. They also tell us, Teamer was taking dogs out of state to fight, including Alabama. Teamer faces 30 felony counts of possession of fighting dogs, and 5 felony counts of cruelty to animals. We're also told more charges are pending.

Perhaps someone with WKRG that has reported on this topice can post and provide a telephone number or a specific agency?

It seems that In Santa Rosa, it is reported to the Sheriff’s Dept. I know you can’t do that here, because when you call in a cruelty complaint to law enforcement, it is referred to SPCA, who then may refer to Animal Control and on and on and on!

What agency should be notifed first if someone needs to report possible dog fighting?

I have a sneaking suspicion this will carry over into the state of Alabama.  I’ve been told that there is an organization in Baldwin county that fights dogs and roosters and that the organizer was based in Florida.  I have reported dog fighting here in Mobile county but nothing came of it.  The man simply packed his dogs up and moved them to another location.  It is such a cruel sport.  I hope that the authorities in Alabama pursue it and bring these criminals to justice soon.

Good job deputies with Santa Rosa County! I am wondering if any of these dogs were coming into the MObile and Baldwin County areas. Several people have become concerned with and tried to report possible dog-fighting in this area to no avail.
