Prichard Police are searching for two juveniles who shot a mailman in Alabama Village Thursday afternoon.
Police say the weapon used was a pellet gun. The man was delivering mail when he felt a pain in his chest.
It happened near the intersection of Colbert and Dekalb streets.
Police say the wound was minor and the mailman will be okay.
If you can help in the case, call Prichard Police.

That is exactly what I would do KctenAC16.I would leave it at the post office if I thought there was a good chance of danger of this kind. The “HOOD” used to be called a neighborhood, and you could walk around there unharmed and safe. The people living there are responsible for it’s present condition,by not fighting to keep it safe. There are good people in that area and a lot of bad ones just like mail carriers and any other jobs. I would like my previous mail carrier to have that route, talking about poetic justice. My father use to deliver mail down on the coast by row boat, good weather or bad, talking about work!,but that was many years ago.I would suggest that this carrier press charges against these hoodlems since a pellet rifle is considered the same as any other gun and is against the law to be fired in the city limits. I am glad the carrier wasn’t hurt to bad, from what I read.

My husband was the Mailman that got shot at. he was just doing his job. He was at the Emergency Room last night until 6.30 pm after working all day in the heat. Why shoot at somebody who is trying to get the mail to them I just don’t understand.

I know from experience that the Mailperson will not deliver to areas that they decide are dangerous.  My neighbor had a very large aggressive dog and did not keep it in their yard and they quit delivering to our street until the owner did something about his dog.

KC, if I were a mail person I wouldn’t want to deliver somewhere dangerous. But there are good people in the ‘hood’ too. Let’s don’t lump everybody living there into the same category as the ‘hoodlum’ who decided to shoot at the mailman.

i would like to see either of you deliver mail in the hood, then come talk about this. the guy was just trying to do his job, it’s not like any of those people can read their own mail anyways, so just leave it at the post office.

Here lately their motto should have been “Thru rain and sleet and blinding snow we will not go and if you want to see slow watch us go “. I guess Alabama Village will now have to pick up their mail at the post office or hit us up for another raise in postage so they can issue bullet proof vests to the carriers. We did have a carrier that wouldn’t go thru a puddle at the end of the street where the street was a little low,and wouldn’t go around to the other end of the street to deliver the mail, he would just take it back and wait for a nice sunny day to deliver it.

The new USPS motto:
Thru rain and sleet and blinding snow...but thru a hail of gunfire we won’t go.
