Gulf Shores residents could soon have a new neighbor. Local developer Tom Poulos has asked the Baldwin County Planning Commission for a site plan approval on a 240 acre luxury R-V park. The upscale resort would be located on County Road 6 in Gulf Shores, just west of Highway 59 and would have concierge services, pools a spa and accommodations for nearly 800 guests.Short URL: http://wkrg.com/a/6990/
"I think it's a great idea," says Gulf Shores resident Lou Panella. "Originally, low-income housing was going to be built there, right behind my backyard and I was worried about that lowering the property value on my home. I think this luxury resort would be a good thing."
Not everyone agrees.
"Traffic is bad enough on County Road 6," says Rebecca Grindle. "If 800 R-V guests come along down this road, it'll be a nightmare. Things are bad enough already."
Poulos says if his plan is approved, he'll start pre-selling lots after Christmas.
