The Mobile Fire Department arrived at the house on Hamilton Road just after 8:00 p.m.
The owner of the house says he was cutting the grass when he had to run inside to answer a phone call. He left the lawnmower running.
He thinks the lawnmower caught the grass and fire and then it spread to the old house.
The owner says he only uses the house for storage.
While no one was hurt, the owner says there were around $200,000 worth of antiques inside the house.
