notice for a videotaped punch he threw at a Democratic colleague on
the Senate floor received a trophy of a boxer from Calhoun County
Republicans last night.
Charles Bishop of Jasper, who has said Senator Lowell Barron of
Fyffe cursed him before being hit in the face, was honored at a GOP
meeting for his "defending of womankind."
But Bishop has voiced regret over the swing he took June 7th on
the final day of the regular legislative session.
Barron has said he did not use the words that Bishop claims
provoked him.
The event, captured by Alabama Public Television and replayed on
Internet video around the globe, is expected to be addressed by a
Senate ethics panel in next year's session.

I think that this whole thing is a disgrace. The investigation should continue and if one or both of them is found to have been out of line they should both be kicked out of the Legislature. And shame on the Republicans in Calhoun County who presented the award. The Republican Party runs on the party line of family values. We are seeing their true values. Yes, I do vote Republican.
