Justin Gatlin says he will appeal a Pensacola judge's ruling that
said his client cannot compete in this weekend's U.S. Olympic track
and field trials.
Judge Lacey Collier said Tuesday the court had no authority to
overrule the recent Court of Arbitration for Sport ruling that
upheld a four-year doping ban against the defending Olympic
100-meter champion.
Gatlin's attorney said he planned to file an appeal Wednesday
morning along with a motion asking the 11th Circuit court in in
Atlanta to reinstate the injunction during the appeals process,
which would allow Gatlin to run in the trials.
Last week, Collier issued a temporary restraining order that
would have allowed Gatlin to compete.
