Lee Turner and his son Jacob come out to Pensacola Beach every chance they get. "We're local, we love it, it's nice to come out here and it's just a beautiful place,"Said Turner. With calm conditions, hundreds of other beach lovers had the same idea, but not everyone was jumping in the water."We've got tons of jellyfish out there in the water, they're definitely out there a lot of the times the tentacles break off and you can't see the jellyfish, cause the tentacles are pretty clear and they float in the water and we're getting a lot of people getting stung by jellyfish today," Said Andrew Edwards a lifeguard on duty.
Jacob says he knows first hand how painful a jellyfish sting could be so it's sand castles for him today. "Once my Dad said there's jellyfish out there, I said I don't really want to go in the water."
If you are stung by a jellyfish the best thing to do is rinse the area with vinegar. The lifeguards at Pensacola Beach say they keep it handy. If that's not available, rinse it off in salt water. Some things you don't want to do...rinse it in fresh water,rub it.. or apply ice or hot water, they will only make things worse.
