Former NBA player and Mobile native Jason Caffey said he's trying to get back on track with making his child support payments.Caffey, who used to play with the Milwaukee Bucks and Chicago Bulls, just served an eight day sentence in a Tuscaloosa jail.
He was arrested in Mobile last month for failing to pay $75,000 for his 13-year old child in Tuscaloosa.
There was also a warrant out for his arrest in Georgia for not paying at least $100,000 in back child support for his five year old son.
After weeks of silence, Monday, Caffey told New Five that everything is not always what it seems.
"What they're not saying is that the lawyer is looking to receive 50 percent of that money. So actually it's an escalated price on that. I know they're not supposed to say that. They're supposed to make me look as bad as possible but that's just not the case. It's never that I didn't send child support it's just that I didn't send the amount that was said to be sent by the courts," said former NBA Player Jason Caffey.
Caffey said he was paying child support based off his salary 5 million dollar salary he made while playing with the NBA.
He said his income has drastically changed since then and his attorney is working on getting a reduction in payments.
