Albert Reynolds spent Thursday afternoon securing the shutters on the windows of his home on Dauphin Island's beach front.
Reynolds said, "I'm boarding the house up so I won't blow away so I'll have it when I get back in next week.
Any time there's a storm in the gulf, probably the biggest concern on Dauphin Island is the berm.
The berm has been breached in a couple of places and town officials are worried a storm could open new holes.
People vacationing on the island are also aware of the storm.
Lonnie Martin and his family drove down from Montgomery to vacation for the week.
When asked what he thought about the storm, Martin said, "I don't think it’s going to be any problem. I think it’s going to come along here, but its not going to hurt anything, and its going to be here after I'm gone."
Margo Groteguth lives on the island, in a visible reminder of Hurricane Katrina.
She's still in a FEMA trailer
Regarding the storm, Groteguth said, "I really don't think it’s going to be anything. I was planning on spending the night here and the weekend here. I don't think there'll be a problem."
