A 53-year-old Chinese man wanted in New Zealand on a murder charge in his wife's death was apprehended today in suburban Atlanta.A spokesperson with the U.S. Marshals Service says Nai Yin Xu, was captured in Doraville around 2 p.m. this afternoon.
He is wanted for the slaying of his wife, Anan Liu.
The Marshals Service says residents of an apartment building recognized him in a Chinese newspaper and called DeKalb County police.
Xue is being held in the DeKalb County Jail pending a hearing tomorrow in U.S. District Court in Atlanta.
Investigators say Xue fled with his 3-year-old daughter. Authorities in Australia have surveillance footage of him abandoning the girl in a Melbourne, Australia, train station before he fled for the United States.
Xue flew into Los Angeles on September 15th. Tips from "America's Most Wanted" television viewers led investigators to Houston and then to the Alabama and Mississippi Gulf Coast.
That led the Marshal's Service to put out word last week that he might be in the Southeast.
