Two insurance reform bills backed by a Mobile senator will likely die without coming up for a vote in the House of Represenatives.
The measures, SB-03 and SB-05, are assigned to the House Banking and Insurance Committee, but Senator Ben Brooks (R-Mobile) says partisian bickering could keep both at a standstill. Neither bill, which must be voted on by Wednesday to stay alive, was brought up during Tuesday's meeting.
According to Brooks, Insurance Committee Chairman Lesley Vance (D-Lee, Russell) said he does not plan to bring either bill up for a vote, essentially killing the measures. Instead, Vance brought up a competing insurance reform bill written by a North Alabama senator. The bill written by Sen. Roger Bedford (D) appeared Tuesday to be on the fast track to becoming law. Brooks has publicly argued against Bedford's bill, saying it is supported by special interests and does little to help residents on the Gulf Coast.

Well it looks like I have to go through another long nervous hurricane season without home owner’s insurance. It’s all about money or the desire for more money. I had one tell me a good while back “ a man is a fool if he doesn’t look out for himself and his family first”. That’s all well and good if he hadn’t been elected or appointed to see to the welfare of the people as a whole first and not last! For the most part they put their own selfish interests first and the people come in a distant second or third,if at all. We have a few good ones but many more that shouldn’t be there representing the people of ALABAMA.

when will you realize that most all of these people have their own selfish desires, not realizing that we are all in one state and that they should do what is right by the state and it’s people. We elect, hope and pray that they will makes our lives safer, and better. But it doesn’t happen.  All they can think of is the small picture, themselves and getting their names on buildings, etc.  If they were worthy they would work together for the betterment of all of us. It reminds me of my dad saying that it’s like little wheels trying to act like big wheels.
