"I'm disappointed and kind of taken back by the whole situation," says Stapleton Fire Chief Tim Pouncey. "I'm hurt because of the breach of trust we put into this gentleman and then for him to do something like this."
Investigators say Salter admitted to making the false calls and told detectives he did it because he liked to ride on fire trucks.
"You don't waste money or put people's lives at risk because you like fire trucks," says Pouncey. "Salter has been suspended and he'll probably never fight fires in Baldwin County again."

Personally I think they should imprison him for the maximum amount of time allowed for the crimes he committed.I have known the Salter’s for well over ten years now and trust me...everyone in that family is competent including Michael. He knows very well the difference between right and wrong. His Mother and Father are both wonderful people who did the utmost possible raising and teaching all five of their children.Michael chooses intentionally and with concious forethought to ignore what he knows to be right in favor of what he wants to do.I just feel sorry for his parents and sisters because word travels extremely fast in Fairhope,AL.Within just a few minutes of this story being posted I received five phone calls asking if I heard about Michael Salter and now because of what he did his family has to walk around with the shame of his actions looming over their head.
