Mobile Fire Department says that a homeowner knocked over an ash tray on his bed causing a fire that damaged his home. It happened around 11:30pm Thursday night on Houston Street near Government Street. The homeowner tried putting out the fire himself but was unsuccessful and ran down the street to a store to call for help. The estimated damage is $12,500. No one was injured in the blaze.
