Mobile Police say they are investigating a homicide that occurred Saturday afternoon at Bebo's car wash, located on Airport Boulevard near the Beltline Service Road.
Police were called to the scene and found a man shot in the chest. He later died at a local hospital.
According to investigators, a man working at the shoeshine stand got into an argument with two men at the gas pumps.
Police say Samuel Jones went to his car, grabbed a gun, came back and shot a passenger in the car.
Investigators are asking anyone with information on this crime to call Mobile Police at 208-7211.
Police identify the victim as 35 year old Thomas Briggs of Mobile.
Officers say that the suspect is booked under the name of Jones, but may other false names.

fist of all i want to thank all of you for the concerns for my family and how they are doing… Thomas Briggs was my uncle and his death was completely uncalled for. NO HUMAN BEING desevers to be shot and killed over some stupid argument and Mr. Jones should be so full of shame a guilt right now. It is stupid and childish to take someones life to steal them from their family over a few choice words. Where this happened is a small piece of information that doesn’t even matter… all that matters is one man is dead and one obviously needs some serious help. Maybe instead of worrying about where this happened we should all be commenting on how to stop this from happing again.. I would hate for any of your families to go through what mine is at this very moment.

bckdrft75 I am sorry for your lost.  But I am sure everything you will want to know will come out at trail.  They have the guy in jail right now.  I was trying to make a point about how the Police are busy setting up roadblocks when they should be out stopping crime and helping people.  Instead they all get together and sit at a couple of places in Mobile and pass out as many tickets as they can.  Just think if they would have been in Springdale Mall Maybe your friend would still be here.

whoaaaaaaaaa i am so sorry about your friend and there is no excuse for what happened if the man had enough time to go to his car and get a gun if his life was threatened he had enough time to get in the car and leave and call the police i did say first of all my sympathy goes out to the family I am truly sorry this happened to your friend but people show fear in different ways and you bet this sort of thing scares people

I am so glad that the highlight of this story is the news messing up about saying West Mobile. But the issue is that a very dear friend of mine that I grew up with was murdered. I am sure Thomas is grateful that is all you people can talk about. What kind of disrespectful people are live here? What if this was your family member or old friend of yours that was murdered by a worthless person? Anyway. If anyone has any info on this. I would grately appreciate it. This story just don’t add up.  Thank you for the real concern of others on here.

first of all my sympathy to the family of the victim 2nd bebos is considered midtown or the beltline area 3rd the man could have gone to the car and got a knife if he wanted to kill he would have found a way for its size mobile’s murder rate is high

I always wondered why crime is so bad in Midtown but the police headquarters are also located in Midtown?  You think with all of the cops close by that criminals would stay away.  Instead they are robbing places within walking distance of headquarters.  Blockbuster, Smoothie King, Gas Stations, and now the shooting at the Mall

I get it!  They are calling this west Mobile so that it does not look like a huge increase in crime in Midtown.  Bad Media

How is this west mobile?  I thought this was midtown?  But I am sure If Sam Jones could have it his way we would have tried to do the annexation of Biloxi.

I hope this is an eye opener to the florida lawmakers who want to pass a bill to make it legal to have a firearm in your vehicle when at work.. a little fight turns into death quick.
