WASHINGTON (AP) - Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff
is predicting longer lines for those entering the United States
because of new border crossing rules that will soon take effect.
Starting February 1st, a driver's license and oral declaration
of citizenship will not be enough to enter the United States.
People will have to present proof of citizenship, usually in the
form of a passport or a birth certificate.
Chertoff says that without the rule change, the country risks
another September 11th-type attack, adding that critics of the
effort need to "grow up."
Chertoff says his agency will have to push back a deadline for
requiring passports -- rather than birth certificates -- at the
borders. Chertoff has already delayed the rule once, but Congress
recently passed legislation delaying the passport requirement until
June of 2009.

“We will close our borders and ports. Illegal immigration STOPS the day we take the White House!
We will not provide amnesty to anyone. There will be no welfare for illegal immigrants! We will end birthright citizenship! There will be no more anchor babies!”
“It is absolutely ludicrous to say we are fighting a war on terror half way around the world when we refuse to secure our borders and ports. If I were President, I would immediately seal our borders. I would also see to it that employers in America who knowingly hire illegal aliens are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. In plain language: any employer who consciously hires illegal aliens would go to jail. They would not pass Go; they would not collect $200; they would go straight to jail.”

:"That is all well and good but what are they going to do about the illegals that are here now?”

Answer:
We need to stop this! Amnesty proposed again!
May 8, 08 White House proposal:
Legal status if each illegal immigrant pays $10,000 as fine!
“The issue of giving legal status to the 12 million undocumented immigrants, including thousands of Bangladeshis, living in USA can be considered by fining them $10,000 each on an average.”
“President Bush is sincerely considering of solving the problems of the undocumented immigrants in a realistic way.”
“A reliable source said Democrat Senator Edward Kennedy is working on a proposal on behalf of the undocumented immigrants. He said if the 12 million immigrants can be given a chance of legalization, the instable and chaotic situation regarding this issue would be solved, the economy of the country would get a speed as well.”
“Edward Kennedy, Senate majority leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are supposed to hold a meeting with President Bush soon regarding this.”

Yes, you are correct.  Greed is driving more employers to hire the illegals and drop wages to an all time low for local workers.  When the Federal laws require proof if citizenship prior to being hired, that will send most of the illegals back home, because their ability to work inside our country impossible unless they have a valid social security number.  Big business have a lot more money to challenge state laws being passed, and they are already doing it.  We have to demand of our elected to support the immigration laws, and that not doing that will mean that the elected must return home and no longer represent us.  Why are our local town halls providing contractor license and allowing the illegals to obtain local services that they are not entitled to?  We have the right to object.
Perhaps we need to speak out as one voice.  The illegals certainly have the ability to gather in great numbers to protest, but we all try to handle it with emails, and with votes.

That is all well and good but what are they going to do about the illegals that are here now? They pool their money together and are buying up property and businesses. This did not happen until Katrina. The mentality of the Pascagoula police are “If immigration doesn’t care, why should we?” But in the local crime reports in the newspaper illegals are being arrested daily on DUI charges, no insurance, no driver license. What gives?

There is a vast difference between someone forgetting to take the required documents and providing the required documents.  Any legal citizen will have what they need to cross the border.  All documents should be scanned for validity, no matter who they are or where they submit them for evidence.  Scanning machines now are reasonably priced and can detect false documentation.  There is no excuse for allowing illegal immigrants into our communities.
Congress has shown little interest in protecting us from invasion or enforcing our existing laws.  This will be a major factor in the upcoming elections.  We want our borders secure, we want the fence, and we want all workers coming into our country to work on a two year bio card to have a chip that will locate the worker when the bio card expires.  These bio cards should not be renewed, as rotating the work force will keep the work force young and spread the employee opportunity to more people.
