Deputies say 38-year-old Debra Scott left her three children home alone for a couple of days. "There was a 16-year-old boy, and 11-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl and they were clearly not capable of really taking care of themselves under these conditions,"said, Sheriff Sam Cochran, Mobile County Sheriffs. Mobile County Sheriff Sam Cochran says deputies found the three children at this trailer along Dees Road. He says they were unharmed but left without parental supervision. "They were taken into custody and later released to a grandmother," said Cochran.Police say this is not the first time Scott's abandoned her children. Authorities say she frequents hotels nearby known for drug abuse. Cochran says she was a repeat drug abuser. Officials say leaving children unattended is legal in some cases, but not this time. Experts at the Mobile Child Advocacy Center say a 16-year-old may be capable of taking care of themselves but they may not be able to care for younger siblings. "That's unrealistic for a 16-year-old to be responsible for feeding, clothing, you know getting to school, all those kinds of things,"said Pat Guyton, Mobile Child Advocacy Center. Mobile County Sheriffs say if Scott is found she could face charges of Child Neglect and Abandonment. The investigation is ongoing.

I was babysitting at the ripe ole age of 15. IMO, this is a bit over the top. I will wait for further news on this to comment further because of the fact that they had been alone for 2 days.
