Tammy Nance and her two children lost everything in an early morning fire.

"It's hard," says Nance as she struggles to hold back tears. "We just bought a Christmas tree and were going to decorate it tonight. My little boy was so excited when he saw the tree this morning and was looking forward to decorating it. Now, everything's gone."

The Foley Fire Department received the 911 call just before 9:30. When crews arrived on the scene, the mobile home on Nance Road was up in flames and smoke could be seen for miles. Firefighters battled the blaze for over an hour, but couldn't save the mobile home.

"It's always terrible to respond to calls like this," says Foley Fire Chief Jamie Hinton. "It's even worse around the holidays and when children are involved. My heart goes out to the family and the kids."

The Red Cross will put the Nance family up in a motel room for three nights and will give the family vouchers for food and clothes. Foley firefighters gave Tammy a big of new toys for her children to enjoy during the holiday season.

"Thank you so much," says Nance. "The Foley Fire Department has been wonderful, everyone's been great in helping us out."

Firefighters are also collecting donations to help the Nance family during the holiday season. Call the main station number at 251-943-1266 if you'd like to help.
