INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (AP) - A Missouri woman who pretended she gavebirth to sextuplets in order to get money from generous neighbors
has been sentenced to four years in prison.
Forty-seven-year-old Sarah Everson and her husband admitted the
March 2006 lie after their story appeared on the front page of a
newspaper. The couple was sentenced to four years of probation
after pleading guilty to felony stealing in 2006. They were ordered
to pay more than $3,600 in restitution and perform community
service.
However, arrest warrants were issued after they failed to pay
the money and missed court hearings.
Last month, Everson's 35-year-old husband was sentenced to three
years behind bars.
