Police in Hartford, Connecticut, havereleased audio tapes of two 911 calls made shortly after a
hit-and-run. The tapes were released two days after Hartford Police
Chief Daryl Roberts publicized surveillance video of a car striking
Angel Torres and leaving him paralyzed in the busy street.
One man is heard imploring a 911 operator -- quote -- "send an
ambulance quick, quick, quick, he's bleeding hard."
The apparent slowness of bystanders to react prompted Roberts to
declare the city no longer had a "moral compass." City officials
later acknowledged that police received four 911 calls right after
the accident.
Connecticut Governor Jodi Rell is offering a $10,000 reward for
information leading to the arrest and conviction of the motorists
involved in the accident.
